FAQ

NorthWoods is a growing community and we are excited that you are considering visiting with us in person.  We would like to personally greet you and help you and your family find your way on your first visit.  There is a Visitor Center in the foyer of the Worship Center that is staffed each Sunday morning to assist newcomers as they seek to find a Bible study group that fits their unique needs.  There will also be coffee and donuts available at the Visitor Center as well as information about other activities at NorthWoods.   We would love to help you find your place at NorthWoods Church.

When you know your children are in a loving and safe environment, you can relax and focus on worship and Bible study.

Preschool

Preschoolers are actively engaged in play while learning about God’s love for them. As you enter the Worship Center foyer, the preschoolers area is to your right on the main floor.  Boys and girls, infants through kindergarten receive security I.D.’s and are directed to a developmentally and age appropriate department near the reception area.

All children in grades 1-5 attend classes on the 2nd floor. Greeters will assist you and your children in finding your way to the appropriate class.  There are two staircases which lead to the children’s area on the 2nd floor.

Kid’s Worship

Kid’s worship is offered during the 10:30 AM Sunday morning worship time. School aged boys and girls are introduced to the concept of congregational worship as they engage in a host of worship related activities including music, games, scripture memorization, and a life application lesson. They also learn about God and His plan for people as they worship together.

High School & Middle School

High school and middle schoolers are greeted by their friends in the youth area on the second floor. Bible study begins at 9:00 AM each Sunday morning. At 10:30 AM on Sunday’s the youth join the adults for the worship service. On Sunday evenings at 6:00 PM, the youth gather again for fellowship and Bible study. Come make a friend, meet the Savior and walk away with a new heart and a changed life.

Intense love and admiration! Extreme devotion! That’s how we describe worship services at NorthWoods Church. We gather together each week to worship God as a church family and to express to Him our love, thanks, and devotion. Come be our guest as we worship the Lord together.

You will be blessed to be challenged and encouraged by our Lead Pastor Bobby Pell each Sunday in our morning services.  We worship through singing, giving, prayer, and Bible Study.  Our worship services are a unique combination of traditional and contemporary music including a band and praise team. The NorthWoods Choir frequently brings special selections as worship as well.

Many members and guests find that it’s easier and more fulfilling to participate in Bible study when they have their own copy of the Bible with them during worship so that they can underline or highlight particular verses for later study. During worship, key Bible verses will be displayed on the overhead screens for those who do not have a Bible with them and for those who carry a different translation. There are also Bibles available for use during the worship service.  Please see a greeter or usher or assistance.

If you prefer to take simple notes, an outline is provided in the bulletin with spaces and margins for personal thoughts and references. For other Bible study times, you may prefer to bring a notepad and pen or pencil for taking notes.

No matter what your personal style, you’ll be comfortable at NorthWoods Church. If you prefer dressy, business, or casual attire, chances are there will be others dressed much like you no matter when you visit. Sure, Sunday mornings are a time when many prefer to dress up a bit, but even if jeans are more your style, you’ll be right at home with us. Naturally, Sunday and Wednesday evenings are slightly more casual than Sunday morning.

Preschoolers and children learn while they play. We encourage hands on play so that children are learning through all their senses. Painting and other “messy” activities are also encouraged, so use your own judgment about how dressed up your child is while at church.

Our Middle and High School students usually dress casually on Sunday and Wednesday evenings because games and sporting events are often held outside and sometimes involve getting messy.

NorthWoods Church is a growing church offering a myriad of classes, activities and events. The activities and worship opportunities that are available to you every Sunday at NorthWoods are designed to help you get plugged in to a place where you feel you belong.

Sunday Morning

We have two Sunday morning services (9:00 and 10:30 AM) along with Sunday Morning Bible Studies (9:00 and 10:30 AM).

Sunday Evening

On Sunday evenings there are a variety of “Small Groups” meeting at the church and around the area in homes. The High school/Middle School also have their Bible study and worship service on Sunday evenings.

Tuesday Morning

Our ladies Bible study meets Tuesday mornings to talk about the Bible from a women’s point of view.

Wednesday Evening

Wednesday evening is our answer to that midweek slump when the stress and challenges of everyday living can get you down. Every Wednesday evening at 6:30 PM we meet in the Worship Center for Bible study. At 6:15 there is a women’s Bible study and Kids K-5th Bible study (Buck and What’s in the Bible).

No matter what your weekly schedule, NorthWoods has a variety of opportunities available for you.  The latest current events are listed on the NorthWoods calendar and Facebook page.

There is ample parking space surrounding the worship center. As you enter the drive from Green River Road, you will see parking areas to your right, straight ahead and in the rear of the building. There is a portico at the main entrance which will help with loading and unloading in inclement weather and handicap accessible parking on the west side of the building. The main entrance is also wheelchair accessible. Once inside the worship center foyer, there will be greeters available to help direct you to the worship center or to your Bible study class.

You may express your desire to become a church member by going forward at the conclusion of our service and sharing your decision with a pastor. You may become a member in one of the following ways:

  • Baptism – a testimony that you have received Christ as Savior and Lord.
  • Transfer of Church Membership – from another Southern Baptist church.
  • Statement of Faith in Christ – and previous baptism by immersion.
  • One of these three, plus attending our membership class – which is periodically offered.
