God over gods: A Sermon Series on Elijah & Elisha In a world full of competing voices and false promises, who—or what—really rules your life? The story of Elijah and Elisha in 1 & 2 Kings reminds us that God alone is greater than every rival, stronger than every idol, and faithful when all else fails. While Israel was tempted to follow false gods who promised prosperity, pleasure, and protection, Elijah stood as a bold voice declaring: “The Lord is God.” This series calls us to the same choice. Will we chase after the powerless “gods” of our culture—success, comfort, control—or will we submit to the one true God who is over all? Together, we’ll journey through dramatic moments of drought, fire, miracles, and revival to see how God proves His power and invites His people to trust Him fully.
