Evaluating The Religious Resume

Continuing in Romans 2, Paul warns against trusting in a religious résumé instead of a real relationship with God. Many people rely on their background, Bible knowledge, church involvement, or religious rituals as proof they are right with God, but outward religion without inward transformation is hypocrisy. Paul confronts those who had the right heritage, the right Scriptures, and the appearance of spiritual maturity, yet failed to live in obedience to God. Their lives contradicted the truth they claimed to believe, damaging both their witness and God’s reputation among unbelievers. This message challenges listeners to examine whether their faith is genuine or merely external. God is not impressed by religious performance; He looks at the heart. True faith is not about appearances, rituals, or spiritual credentials, but about a life transformed through surrender to Jesus Christ.
